Why Everyone’s Talking About Elderberry

Why Everyone’s Talking About Elderberry - So Good So You

Chances are by now you’ve either tried or heard of elderberry.

Packed with antioxidants and nutrients, health enthusiasts everywhere are talking about elderberries and their immune-boosting properties.

According to some studies, elderberry products may help significantly reduce symptoms of upper respiratory infections.

We, too, are major fans of this nutritious little fruit. So much so, we recently launched a new addition to our Immunity lineup - Immunity powered by Elderberry.

It wasn’t easy as elderberries aren’t a widely available ingredient, particularly the premium organic berries we wanted to use in our immune-supporting probiotic shots.

Directly from our Ops team: “The demand is very high and the supply is scarce, there is a lot of adulteration of the ingredient.”

We persevered and after months of sourcing wizardry, were able to secure an entire crop from an organic producer in the Netherlands and got it all shipped stateside as quickly as we could, to bring to market the first pure elderberry juice (not concentrate) probiotic shot!

In addition to consuming elderberry in our shots, we find ourselves utilizing it in the kitchen as well. Below co-founder and Chief Innovation & Brand Officer, Rita Katona, shares two delicious recipes featuring elderberry.

  5. Transfer to a high speed blender and puree until smooth.
  6. Transfer back to the pot along with apple wedges.
