Simple Habits for a Greener Lifestyle - So Good So You

This time of year, many of us find ourselves setting intentions for the new year and looking for ways to better ourselves.. This is seen across all facets of life from physical and mental health, to lifestyle choices and habits we take every day. With sustainability at the core of all we do at So Good So You, we like to take time now to think about how we can take better care of our planet in 2021. Below, we’ve compiled a list of some of our favorite ideas. What habits are you working to embrace in 2021? Let us know in the comments below.

Go meatless at least once a week. The most sustainable single action an individual can take is to go plant-based. If a fully plant-based diet isn’t for you, start small with 1 or 2 days a week and work your way up. Finds ways to substitute plant-based foods in your favorite recipes -have fun with the process. Your body and the planet will thank you!

Use reusable napkins. Not only are reusable napkins much more sustainable than paper single-use ones, but they also save you money over time. And, you’ll get major peer points for “adulting” like a pro.

Use a reusable water bottle. This is a non-negotiable at So Good So You. Carrying a reusable water bottle cuts plastic use and reminds you to stay hydrated throughout the day. And because a cool water bottle is the “it” accessory for the eco-conscious,, find a water bottle to match your style!

Use reusable / refillable coffee pods. Not only are they the most planet-friendly method for brewing a personal cup of joe, but they’re also much more budget-friendly, too. There are now stainless steel options available for use with both Keurig and Nespresso machines.

Shop local. Buying local produce helps support local farmers, often saves you money, and reduces carbon emissions.

Ride your bike. If weather permits, make more frequent use of your bike and get outside. You’ll save money on transportation and limit harmful vehicle emissions.

Unplug appliances when not in use. Save energy and keep appliances unplugged when not in use. Even when they are plugged in and turned off, they still use some electricity.

Shop pre-owned clothes and accessories. Thrifting is IN and we are here for it! Fashion production makes up over 10% of global pollution. Avoid contributing to the problem by buying pre-owned clothes and accessories.
