What is your best food memory? Eating raspberries from my grandmother’s garden in late summers. I would go to the back of her garden where the raspberry bushes were, and lose track of time eating the ripe, sweet fruit right off the bushes. I sometimes filled up on raspberries and got scolded for ruining my appetite before dinner.

What is your fave ingredient that makes everything taste better? Lemon and lemon juice. It just brightens up all other flavors.

Tell us your food philosophy in one sentence. Eat real food. Not too much. Mostly plants. I wish I had thought of this, but it was Michael Pollan.

What is your favorite sweet indulgence? Medjool dates stuffed with raw almond butter. Or, really good dark chocolate.

What’s your food splurge item? Raw almond butter that’s ground in-store.

I skip labels that… Have ingredients I am not familiar with or can’t pronounce. Also, corn and soy unless they are organic because over 90% of corn and soy in the US are genetically modified.

What is your favorite clean beauty brand? Eminence Organics. It is made in Hungary and is so clean – fruit and vegetable based ingredients, some of the items even recommend refrigeration for freshness.

Name an eco-product that has changed your life. Swedish dishcloths. I no longer buy paper towels.

If you could have one (and only one!) shot for the rest of your life, which would you pick? Immunity powered by Ginger.

A book that changed your perspective. Dr. Greger’s How Not to Die

What’s your favorite cookbook or recipe creator? I like to experiment in the kitchen a lot and that means I’m often tweaking recipes myself vs. following them to the letter – and I cast a broad net when searching for inspiration. Sometimes it’s from Instagram, other times I want to cook with a certain ingredient and I search for recipes that highlight it. If I have to pick someone, it has to be Chef Jessi, our incredible chef partner who helped co-create with me a lot of the foods and snacks we used to offer at our cafes.

What advice would you give someone trying to go plant-based? Cut yourself some slack and don’t try to be perfect. Progress over perfection. Enjoy the journey and focus on incorporating delicious plant-based foods into your meals, rather than on avoiding or restricting yourself from having something.
