We’re the first to admit it, but we are all going a little stir-crazy these days. Long hours spent inside, limited social interaction, and overindulgence in everything digital, we are all looking for new and exciting activities to keep us busy.
With the closing of almost all destinations you might have typically frequented on a day off from school or work, we’re all feeling a little cooped up these days. Forced to think outside-the-box when it comes to learning and entertainment, we’ve been brainstorming inspo and ideas beyond Disney Plus.
To do everyone a solid, we’ve come up with a unique way to create fun without many materials or trips to the store. What do you need? A handful of empty So Good So You bottles and any other craft supplies you can gather from around the house.
To get you started, we’ve created a few examples to get your creative juices flowing *no pun intended*.
*Consider these ideas, but by no means let them limit you! We want to see what you can come up with, too.*
Bulk Spices Container
Materials: Hot glue, string or yarn, spices
Limit your single-use plastic by buying spices in bulk. To store them, use old shot bottles and complete the steps below:
- Simply draw two lines of hot glue on each side of the bottle, going from top to bottom
- Starting from the bottom, wrap the string around the bottle in whatever design you please!
- Option to poke holes in the top of the cap to allow for sprinkling using a drill
- Option to label the top or the side!
Bottle Toss
Materials: Bottle, yarn, fork
A fun and different way to occupy your kids (and let’s be honest, yourself) is to create your very own bottle toss. Although there are many different ways to do this, we’ve listed our steps below:
- Cut a 2 ft piece of yarn, tie one end to the top of the bottle
- Make a pom with a fork, we used this tutorial
- Tie string to pom!
- To store, stick string and pom in the bottle and cover it up!
Airplant
Materials: Bottles, twine, paint, plants
Add some greenery to your space by creating air plants using old shot bottles. Give it a try and follow the steps below:
- Paint your bottles with any designs you would like!
- Cut 3.5 ft of twine
- Measure evenly for however many bottles you would like to use (I’m thinking 5) and mark where to tie them in
- Tie twine around bottles where you marked
- Fill!
