Immune-Supporting Foods Your Kids Will Love

With flu season on the horizon and COVID still in full swing, we are all doing our best to keep our immune system strong for ourselves and for our families. As adults, we understand the impact of what we consume on our bodies but it isn’t always that simple for our kids. To offer some help, we’re sharing some of our favorite immune-supporting foods to give your kids the nutrients they need to fight off sickness that they will actually enjoy!

Citrus fruits

think oranges, lemons, limes, grapefruit, and tangerine. Citrus fruits are an excellent source of vitamin C, a major immune boosting nutrient that helps our bodies fight off disease. In addition to, they are a good source of fiber making them a great snack to keep your kids fueled throughout their day.

Berries

strawberries, raspberries, blueberries and blackberries all are rich in vitamin C and antioxidants that help protect our cells. Bonus: they’re delicious simply on their own making them an easy answer when making a quick snack. We love these immune supporting foods of every kind!

Spinach

although it may not sound appealing to kids on its own, spinach is pretty flavorless and easy to incorporate into smoothies or meals. Next time you make your kid a smoothie, add a handful of spinach for added vitamins A, C and K, as well as magnesium and iron. Chances are, your little one might not even notice!

Bananas

packed with vitamin C and potassium, bananas make a delicious yogurt topping, smoothie ingredient, or simple snack that kids notoriously enjoy. Next time you’re at the store, buy extra and peel, chop and store in your freezer!

Oatmeal

rich in antioxidants, magnesium, zinc, and iron, oats are a great way to give your kiddos the vitamins and minerals they need to fuel their bodies. To add extra flavor, top oatmeal with fresh fruit or even honey for a touch of sweetness.

Last but certainly not least, our Detox Shot is loved by little ones as the organic pineapple juice gives it a sweet, delicious flavor. It is powered by blue green algae, a nutrient dense superfood that contains B vitamins, iron, magnesium, calcium and essential amino acids.

Fun Fact: our VP of Sales, Jenna, gives her two boys the Detox shot and they have coined its nickname, “Hulk Juice.” To find a store with SGSY shots near you, visit our Store Finder.

We hope you and your family enjoy these immune-boosting foods as much as we do. What’s your go-to superfood that your little ones love? We want to know!
