We Do So Good With Girls on the Run

We had such a blast at the 2017 Girls on the Run 5k! We’ve been involved with this organization since So Good So You started in 2014, so this was our 3rd year supporting their annual 5k race event. Our team looks forward to this event all year because it is such a “Feel-Good Fest”! Thousands of little ladies gather to run a 5k with their coaches and teams while their families (and our team!) cheer wildly along the route and at the finish line. For 3 years now we’ve been serving up refreshments of healthy, delicious cold-pressed juice just past the finish line. When the runners cross the finish, we greet them with smiles and high fives, and this year, with the freshest pressed watermelon juice. We love it, they love it, it’s a total Love Fest!

What is Girls on the Run all about?

“We believe that every girl
can embrace who she is,
can define who she wants to be,
can rise to any challenge,
can change the world.
Can. “

Mission
We inspire girls to be joyful, healthy and confident using a fun, experience-based curriculum which creatively integrates running.

Vision
We envision a world where every girl knows and activates her limitless potential and is free to boldly pursue her dreams.

Core Values
Recognize our power and responsibility to be intentional in our decision making.
Embrace our differences and find strength in our connectedness.
Express joy, optimism and gratitude through our words, thoughts and actions
Nurture our physical, emotional and spiritual health
Lead with an open heart and assume positive intent
Stand up for ourselves and others

Pretty cool, right? As a female business owner running a company with several other strong female leaders, and as someone who has embraced and grown to love running, I adore that this organization uses running as the platform to build confidence and self-esteem! Throughout a 1—week season, volunteer coaches work with small groups of 3rd – 5th graders to train for the big event – their annual 5k. I was 21 when I ran my first 5k and I thought I was pretty fancy, so the fact that these girls at such a young age are exposed to healthy habits like exercise, and the discipline and dedication it takes to train for a race, is an incredible life lesson in goal-setting!

Every year we are so impressed with the first finisher as they zip past the finish line in under 25 minutes… probably faster than I’ve ever run a 5k! Even better… all the girls have a race number of “1” – because they are in this together, and it’s about finishing, not winning. Everyone finishes, and everyone is beaming with joy as they walk over to get their goodies and refreshments after the race!

We’ve watched the event grow every year in front of our eyes, with more than 5000 participants in the 5k on June 3, 2017, in Minneapolis. Thank goodness we were prepared with a LOT of juice. It takes a ton of work and a lot of support to run an organization and an event like this, so big love goes to the staff and all the volunteer coaches and event volunteers for creating yet another memorable day in the lives of so many little ladies! We are excited to continue to support this lovely organization!
