People Ops Manager / HR Business Partner

Summary:  So Good So You is seeking an experienced People Ops Manager / HR Business Partner to own benefits and payroll operational activities and programs in a fast-paced, high-growth, and high-performance environment while supporting the growth of an open, diverse and inclusive workplace. The role will report to the co-founder Chief Brand & Innovation Officer with dotted-line reporting to the Controller.  The ideal individual will enjoy rolling up their sleeves and owning the day-to-day operational aspects of HR (specific to benefits and payroll) while also engaging in culture-building programs with the founders and leadership team.

This role will develop strong working partnerships with every member of the leadership team and managers and provide support to all employees across the organization. Due to the nature of our business, we’ll expect the ideal candidate to be able to utilize their keen eye for details, sharp analytical skills, and strong work ethic to support our team and our culture as we grow.


  • Manage and scale benefits administration and HR operations functions to match the growth in exempt and non-exempt workforce seamlessly including but not limited to: onboarding, offboarding, tracking of all types of records, incidents, and benefits
    • Manage and iterate a scalable onboarding process that welcomes our diverse employee population and allows employees to acclimate quickly
    • Support leaders throughout the organization with training and documentation for both compliance and development
    • Ensures So Good So You is complying with federal, state, and local legal requirements; advising management on needed actions to maintain compliance
    • Handle bi-weekly payroll, reviewing hours to ensure everyone’s pay is accurate
    • Own management of our 401k platform and any/all benefits systems
    • Own reconciliation of the employee benefit programs to ensure withholdings and participation among the plans is consistent with the vendors used to supply those programs.
    • Update payroll/benefits management system to reflect periodic changes in tax rates by states, calling states to handle discrepancies 
    • Maintain company organization charts and employee directory
  • Support the organization with ongoing performance management including 90-day, mid-year, and annual performance cycles
    • Set up check-in cycle calendars tied to new team member onboarding
    • Create and maintain annual- and mid-year review timelines and keep the team on-track to complete before deadlines
  • Oversee the annual benefits open enrollment process 
    • Evaluate & incorporate unique perks that support the attraction and retention of high performing employees and reflects the company’s culture and values
    • Maintain inventory of company merchandise 
  • Be the culture champion by:
    • Own the execution and analysis of the annual Culture & Engagement Survey
    • Spearhead company meetings and events
    • Creatively engage both in-person and remote teams with team-building initiatives throughout the year
    • Model a people and planet first, positive, and solution-oriented attitude

  • 7+ years of experience with benefits management, and/or human resource management
  • Minimum 4 years of experience with payroll management
  • 2+ years of working with a combination exempt/non-exempt workforce. Experience with manufacturing is highly desirable
  • High level of comfort with different types of software including multi-functional HR management systems, and patience with the integration of systems and training of employees on new systems
  • Hands-on experience leading the administration of benefits, evaluation and implementation of HRMS systems, on-boarding, off-boarding, conducting engagement surveys, and overall employee relations
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, Human Resources or related field preferred
  • Bi-lingual – any level of Spanish language knowledge is a major bonus (though not required)
  • Experience at a high growth/startup company is highly desirable
  • This role is based at So Good So You’s corporate headquarters in Minneapolis, MN, and is classified as a hybrid in-office / work-from-home position.
