Six Tips for Jumpstarting Your Morning

There’s something so refreshing about starting your day on the right foot. Set yourself up for  success by getting energized and invigorated first thing in the morning. To help you jumpstart your morning a little faster, we’ve compiled a list of our go-to tips and tricks for starting your day. What’s your secret for starting your day? Let us know in the comments!

Water. After sleeping for the recommended 7-8 hours, your body will inevitably be dehydrated so it is critical to first consume several glasses of water. We recommend making the first one a glass of freshly squeezed lemon juice (try ½ to a whole lemon, and if you need to, you can add a little honey). Keep hydrating after your lemon water with 2-3 more large glasses of water. By doing so, you will immediately feel your energy levels increase. The lemon water is also highly alkalizing, which is amazing for your body, especially your digestive system, which we know is intricately linked to our immunity and other critical functions.

Movement. Get your blood circulation pumping with some early morning movement. Even just 5-10 minutes of stretching or inversions such as forward-folding or other gentle yoga moves will help get the blood flowing. Smoothies. A smoothie is a great way to get 3-5 servings of fruits, vegetables, and superfoods in one meal, giving you the nutrients and fuel your body needs right at the start of the day. Most people don’t get anywhere close to the recommended 7-8 servings of veggies and fruits every day, so give yourself a head-start with a morning smoothie. Meditation. Starting your morning with meditation can alleviate grogginess, helping you to clear your mind as you begin to wake up. Morning meditation is shown to cultivate peace of mind and a sense of being present in the moment. Given the fast pace that many of our lives run at, it is easy to feel stressed and overwhelmed. When you cultivate calmness, you can begin to feel more positively about yourself and the day ahead.

Set goals. Write down 1-3 achievable goals that you’d like to accomplish in your day. That way, at the end of the day you can reflect on the goals you set and hopefully feel like you had a productive day.
